Nothing lasts forever, and that includes your clothes.
With repeated washing, the quality of your clothes tends to deteriorate over time. Colour fades, the shape becomes deformed, and they can start looking lifeless. To keep your clothes looking new for as long as possible, you need to pay close attention to your laundry habits.
As a laundry products manufacturer, Euca offers a wide range of eco-friendly laundry products formulated to keep your clothes' quality in excellent condition, at every stage of their lifecycle. Our products are created and tested with no nasties or harmful ingredients – ensuring a longer span for your clothes. Here are a few tried and tested Euca laundry tips for keeping your clothes looking and feeling newer for longer.
1. Treat stains promptly and correctly.
Whether you like it or not, at some point you are going to get a stain on your clothes. Stains are pesky little beasties and can come from various sources – especially that delicious Spaghetti Bolognese you made for dinner. We know first-hand that is not fun to remove a stain as they are known for being notoriously difficult to remove.
The trick is to treat the stain as quickly as possible (limiting the amount of time the stain sits on the fabric will determine how easy it will be to remove). Always check the label or care instructions for fabric information and recommended care techniques.
Best products to use:
- Euca Soaker Laundry Brightener – Use this not just to brighten up your fabrics but also as an overnight soaker to remove stains. Pour a small amount on stain and leave, then soak for about 10 to 30 minutes before loading in the washer.
- Euca’s Natural Pre-Wash Stain Remover - For lighter stains, spray onto the affected area before popping the item into the wash. For stubborn stains, pour a small amount into a sink and soak your garment in warm water before loading it into the wash. You can also directly apply it around the collars and sleeves to effectively remove dirt. If you’re wondering if it is safe to use on your clothes, rest assured as it will not affect the natural composition of your garments.
2. Use the right wash temperature and cycle.
Different fabrics necessitate different temperature settings and cycles when it comes to cleaning. Each item in your wardrobe comes with a care label explaining how to wash it properly. Read the care instructions thoroughly before putting them into the washing machine.
It is typically safe to wash them in hot water for light-coloured clothes. Whereas dark- coloured and cotton-based clothes are usually recommended to be washed in a cold setting, as it doesn’t harm the fabric and prevents the colours from fading.
3. Go easy with laundry powder and detergent
More is not always better when it comes to how much laundry powder and detergent to use. The more you use, the more damage you could be causing to your garments as well as your washing machine – as not all laundry products are soluble. Many commercial brands can leave residue on your clothes, making them look dull and stiff.
Fortunately, our range of laundry products was curated to safeguard your garments throughout the wash cycle. Euca Laundry Powder Concentrate in Eucalyptus, Lemon Myrtle and Jasmine and Laundry Liquid Detergent is all extremely concentrated, so you can use LESS. They are 100% soluble and contain no fillers, so you can feel confident that your garments are safe from any harmful substances. Our laundry powder range contains one of the lowest phosphate levels that is available on the market, while our liquid range contains no phosphate at all.
So, you may be wondering how exceptionally concentrated is Euca’s formula?
- For front load washers, the recommended amount is only 20gm but some users have reported that they only need to use 10gm per wash.
Note: liquid formula requires 20 ml per load. - For the top loader, use approximately 40gm mixed with warm water before placing your garments in the wash. This can be adjusted based on your load size – so you can use less.
Note: liquid formula requires 40 ml per load.
Oh, and did we mention all our laundry products are suitable for septic, bio and greywater systems and safe to use in modern sewage treatment systems? Better for your clothes and the environment!
4. Always sort your laundry
Some laundry disasters result from not properly sorting out clothes before washing. Have you had whites that mysteriously turned pink? Or clothes that have shrunken? Or one of your favourite t-shirts has just lost its original colour and vibrancy?
These laundry mishaps can all occur if you do not separate your garments before washing them. Sort them by colour, fabric type, weight, and wash setting.
5. Wash your clothes inside out.
Another important technique for keeping your printed and designed clothes from cracking is to wash them inside out. This one is super simple; all you need to do is ensure the garment is turned inside out before popping them into the wash.
6. Keep your clothes soft and smell fresh
When it comes to laundry, fabric softener is your best friend! Our clothes tend to lose their natural softness as we wash them time and time again.
Fabric softener is an easy and effective solution for keeping your fabrics soft, odour, and wrinkle-free. It also helps to minimise the buildup of friction between fibres, resulting in less static cling and a longer lifespan for your apparel.
Euca Fabo Concentrated Fabric Conditioner is an excellent choice as it contains Australia Eucalyptus Oil, which naturally cleans and deodorises your clothing. Only 20ml of product is required for every load, or up to 40ml for larger loads – helping you to save more money while keeping your garments fresh and looking new. Euca’ Fabo was created to work alongside other detergents to avoid the buildup of gunk – not the other way around.
7. Keep your whites whiter and colours brighter
One of the downfalls of repeatedly washing your clothes is that whites can easily become yellowed and coloured items can look discoloured and faded over time.
Boost your washing power with Euca Soaker Laundry Brightener. As mentioned above, our laundry soaker was formulated to restore whites and make coloured clothing bolder and brighter. Its high-quality concentrate is suitable for all fabrics, and colours and can be used on any stain! You might just be amazed at how clean and bright your laundry comes out!
Bonus Tip:
As a final rinse option, you can also use Euca Laundry Sanitiser Liquid - an easy-to-use antibacterial sanitiser fit for any type of garment. Our Laundry Sanitiser with Broad Spectrum Bacteriacide contains effective antibacterial properties and 100% Australian Pure Eucalyptus. Add a little bit to the rinse cycle of any load, to disinfect and prevent cross infection - which helps in eliminating germs and nasties from your clothes. Cleaner, fresher, and germ-free clothes for longer!
With these tips, we can assure you that your clothes will be looking fresher for longer. They can also assist you in becoming more environmentally friendly and saving money in the long run. Keep a supply of Euca laundry products on hand to achieve a better wash and ensure your clothes are in tip-top shape!
