Does your laundry smell less like fresh linen and jasmine, and more like a smelly pit of misery? I think we can all agree that we’ve faced this dilemma at least once or twice before. You might be asking yourself “What did I do wrong?”. It’s a common (whilst frustrating problem) with some easy solutions.
There are several reasons why your laundry might not smell as it should. Here are some of the most common culprits to keep an eye out for:
Your washing machine is infested with mould.
One thing to note about mould is that it is a sneaky pest. When inspecting your washing machine, you may not spot it right away as it tends to lurk in the darkest corners. Make sure you thoroughly check inside and out, including the door gasket. When mould gets trapped for an extended period of time, it can produce that unpleasant odour that we are all too familiar with.
A good tip is to allow your machine to air dry and leave the door open once you have finished so all the moisture can evaporate away.
Did you know that Euca’s Premium Laundry Powder and liquid can clean and protect your washing machine at the same time you use it, making your washing machine smell fresh and last longer? With no added fillers that are normally found in Supermarket brands, we were able to achieve a 100% soluble blend making our laundry liquid and powder greywater and septic system safe.
You tend to overload your washing machine?
Think that you can fit a week's worth of laundry into one load. Stop, don’t do it! Doing the laundry is seen as more of a chore than anything else, so we will try to do anything to get it done as quickly as possible! Don’t you agree?
Keep in mind that the more clothes you put into one load, the less likely each piece will be cleaned thoroughly. Your clothes will absorb all the water, leaving no water to activate the magic of your laundry powder or detergent. So, instead of your laundry coming out fresh and aromatic, it may smell just as bad, if not worse than before.
You let moisture linger on your clothes for too long.
Just finished a hard workout at the gym. Or how about just finishing up with your spring cleaning duties? If you find that your clothes or other apparel have absorbed a lot of moisture, try not to let them sit for too long. Moist surfaces are a breeding ground for mould and bacteria, which can wreak havoc on your laundry! Let them dry completely first or put them straight into the wash.
Even better, soak them for a few minutes or overnight with Euca’s Soaker Brightener. Natural Eucalyptus oil is one of the main ingredients, which acts as both a deodoriser and a sanitiser - how handy!
You’re using too much laundry powder or detergent.
We cannot stress enough - using too many Supermarket brand laundry powders or detergents is not the answer. Chances are, you’re most likely emphasising the problem rather than solving it. Plus building up more residual “fillers” in the machine’s pipes and pump.
Too much supermarket detergent can cause a formation of soap scum, and you know what that is going to result in - smelly clothes. If using only a little bit of product is not cutting it, you are most likely not using the correct laundry detergent!
That's where Euca comes to the rescue! Our Euca Laundry Powder Concentrate is a pure concentrate, meaning that you can use less product while still getting the highest quality clean and fresh scent that your clothes deserve. It also contains no fillers and is 100% soluble, meaning no leftover residue or soap scum build up in your machine.
You can actually overuse Euca without consequence, but we prefer that you use it sparingly because that is what makes Euca so unique. It truly checks all the boxes: it’s eco-friendly, it cleans well, makes your clothes smell nice, and it loves your washing machine.

You’re skipping on fabric softener.
There have been a lot of conspiracy theories circulating around fabric softeners, and you are most likely under the impression that they aren’t the best for the health of your clothes. Although that is entirely dependent on what type and brand you are using. The right fabric softener can give your clothes the boost they needed - leaving them feeling softer and smelling fresher.
If you’re still feeling a little bit sceptical, there’s always an eco-friendly choice that you might like to explore. Euca Fabo Fabric Softener Conditioner is a one-of-a-kind blend of eco-friendly ingredients that is a premium concentrate that naturally enriches and deodorises your fabrics. It is unlike any other fabric softener on the market - we can guarantee that it will make your laundry smell better than ever, with none of the usual gunky build-up caused by other fabric softeners. To add to that generally, that build-up is the fabric softener reacting with the detergents leftover fillers and residue, so Euca Detergents work hand in hand with the fabric softener
